Frequently Asked Questions

Can I register at equipment pick-up?

All Players:

You can register at equipment pick-up.  However, we strongly encourage you to register prior to July 16th, 2017.  Any registrations after July 10, 2017 will be subject to a $25.00 late registration fee.  

Returning Players:

MCYFA, cannot guarantee playing location (North/South/Edgewood) after July 9th, 2017.  You must register prior to July 9th to be on the same team.

 



 

Can I pay registration fee with a check?

No, the league no longer accepts personal checks (sorry).  We strongly encourage registration prior to equipment pick-up online (and by July 9th to avoid a late fee).

What information/forms are needed during equipment pickup?

If you completed the full payment option you will need to bring the follow items to equipment pickup:

  • Report Card from School Year 2016-2017
  • Birth Certificate (if you are new to the league)

If you complete the scholarship option you will need to bring the follow items to equipment pickup:

  • Report Card for the School Year 2016-2017
  • Birth Certificate (if you are new to the league)
  • Confirmation letter from your current school system indicating your child receives free or reduced lunch.

What happens at try-outs?

Players run through a series of drills (running, passing, etc) to assess their abilities for the coaches.  This information is used during player placement.  Parents are welcome to stay and watch from the stands.

Who has to attend try-outs?

AFL and NFL players who are new the league, did not play last year, or are switching leagues (moving from Flag to AFL or AFL to NFL) are required to attend try-outs.  The tryouts are on July 17th at 6:30 (AFL) and 7:30 (NFL) at North High School. Flag players do not attend try-outs. Flag players are required to attend team placement on July 31st, 2017 at 6:00pm at North High School.

 

What do players wear to try-outs?

Try-outs do not require football gear.  Please wear athletic shorts, shirt and tennis shoes. We also recommend bringing a water bottle. 

Do I need to pick up equipment if my son/daughter is playing in the Flag league?

Yes.

What if I’m unable to pick-up equipment on the scheduled days?

Equipment pick-up is on July 16th, 2017 at Frank Southern Ice Arena. If you cannot attend any of the days, you will need to coordinate with your son/daughter’s coach.

Can my son/daughter play flag football if they will be in kindergarten?

Yes
