Who We Are
The Monroe County Youth Football Association has been giving the youth of Monroe County the opportunity to learn about football for over 30 years.
MCYFA works in partnership with MCCSC and RBB to provide safe fields for our games. The games are scheduled for Sunday afternoon and one weeknight each week.
The Monroe County Youth Football Association divides players into three separate age groups to offer the following options for participants (for the 2024 season):
*FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE - Players learn the fundamentals of the game in a non-contact setting and have lots of fun! All players practice together and are divided into squads for scrimmages. This is a non-competitive league that does not keep score.
*Research behind why don’t keep score: Final Score Doesn’t Always Tell the Story (USA Football, 2020).
*AFL (ROOKIE TACKLE) FOOTBALL - This is full-contact team sport. Football fundamentals are stressed in an environment of fun and competition. Regular season games are followed by a post-season tournament. Limited rosters, smaller playing field with modified rules creates a faster paced fun and exciting experience. AFL (Rookie Football) is part of the American Development Model (ADM).
*NFL – A full-contact team sport where football fundamentals are still stressed but the level of competition is raised. Regular season games are followed by a post-season tournament.
Off season questions can be emailed to the league Board of Directors.
